And…Action

April 3, 2008

3Outlanders is now live. The three of us will give you views on what it’s like living and writing far away from home. Our lives as expatriates weren’t always conscious choices. Things just happened. Good, bad, whatever. It is. Tonight wifey, daughter (aka the dirty rat kid or DRK) and I saw friends we hadn’t seen in 8 years. Always fun. But you know what? It makes me feel ancient. And I’m not that old (though DRK says I suffer from a touch of mad cow). When we last saw the Swiss Family Robinson their kids were 6 and 10. Now they’re 14 and 18. I should just pack it in. The next generation has arrived to take over and I haven’t accomplished my goals. Some complain that this generation of kids isn’t ready to assume any responsibility. If it’s true, I say great. Gives me more time.       Whip

    Dear Whip,
You shouldn’t feel ancient. As you said, you’re not old at all. Even if you are, I am 1oo% positive that it doesn’t even show. I bet that you still have a halo of hair around your head. My father doesn’t and he’s not even that much older than you. To put it nicely, my father’s hair color is … ’salt and pepper!’… In addition to that, he doesn’t even have that much hair left! He looks like one of those monks from the Middle Ages with a neatly shaven circle in the middle of their heads, except his was nor shaven nor intentional.
Also, I agree that children as foolish as I are not ready to become responsible of anything. People as wise as you should keep your positions as leaders of the world, teach us more of your knowledge and have mercy on those who are ignorant and shameful. I, too, say great!

    Sincerely,
    La Hija
